Ruffled Peyote Stitch – How to

I am sure there are various ways of achieving ruffles or frills with peyote stitch.  This is but one of them. Ruffled peyote is a very useful addition as it can be used to create texture, structure, interest. Cab with Ruffled Peyote Stitch Ruffled Peyote Stitch Characteristics The ruffles produced are solid, firm, and strong.  They stand up on their own. Not floppy. Not flimsy. Tips on Weaving Ruffled Peyote Knowing how to do peyote stitch helps! Each bead must be pulled taut as you work the ruffles. Advisable to use different colours in the ruffles (even if colours are slightly differentiated) because the first 3 rows of the ruffles can get very confusing (hard to distinguish one bead from another). Once the ruffled peyote is complete, do not try to bend it.  (I once snapped off the entire ruffle strip: the stitching, as needs be, is so taut that they can break off that way.) 3 foundation rows of increases to create the ruffles.  Use beads smaller than main body of work. Dremel Accessories – Explained

When I got my fascinating Dremel Stylus, I was in love. But confused.  My Dremel Stylus came with a box of accessories.  But what in golly geez were they for?  And how do I use those Dremel accessories? There was no manual.  So, let s find out about the Dremel accessories. My new Dremel & Dremel accessories Dremel Multi-Chuck Dremel 3 Jaw Multi Chuck #4486 While my Dremel Stylus came with its own box of accessories, it does not come with the indespensable multi-chuck.  I have to thank a friend for putting me wise on this gadget. The Dremel Multi-Chuck is (more) technically called the Dremel 4486 MultiPro Keyless Chuck. A very knowledgeable Facebook friend (Chrissie Smith) pointed out to me I would find a Dremel Multi-Chuck very useful. At the time, she might as well have been speaking Greek to me. However I knew I had better listen. She, unlike me, knows what she is talking about when she Dremel-talks! So I got myself a chuck as well. Remember to get one for yourself as well. You

Dremel Stylus – Do you Need one?

I have always wanted a Dremel. Well, not actually always . But ever since I started seeing so many people & crafty friends mentioning a Dremel. They throw out the name Dremel as if the Dremel was such a item like Bosch that anyone hearing the name, would know it. I didn t. And yet I wanted one. And I didn t even know what it could do. But I wanted a Dremel. When my Dremel arrived, I loved it at first sight. Dremel Stylus 7.2v Cordless with Docking Station & Accessories Which Dremel to Get? In January of 2013, when I was ready to get a Dremel (incorrectly thinking it would be a belated Xmas pressie) I was all a flounder as to which Dremel I should get. It should at least do a number of things. Hopefully things I would want it to do. Vaguely, I thought of polishing metal, a bit of buffing, cutting maybe but really, I was floundering. I turned to my Facebook clever friends and discovered many thumbs up for the Dremel Stylus 7.2v Cordless. So I got it. And it arrived. I was fascinated and

Collage Drawers – A Facelift

How to transform ugly drawers? collage drawers! Collage Drawers (CH0333) I have been meaning to do something about these drawers coz I so did not like their colours.  So now I have. The collage drawers is a free-form design exercise. And collage drawers are so much fun as you can you all kinds of mix media.  Here I mainly chose to work with fabric and bead embroidery. This is what it looked like to start off with.  Actually there were 6 drawers (3 blue, 3 pink).  But I am only transforming 3 into collage drawers and leaving 3 handy shelves. Pretty yukky colours ain t they? This is in our entryway. Chiki Tikki and Melissa Windstorm like to sit there to watch us come and go. How to make Collage Drawers I am just giving the drawers a facelift. So I will only be working on the front face of the drawers. Get some pieces of material which will form the front of the collage drawers. (Mine were obtained a long time ago from Reverse Garbage, Sydney the best recycling shopping center ever

How to soften polymer clay I just want to get started with my clay immediately so this research piece is presented in brief notes to get you going asap. Various Ways to Condition or Soften Polymer Clay I will include a useful video to each method where possible. I always find notes are easier and faster when one is just doing a quick refresh. Beaded Sequin Flower – how to

This is a very simple, very easy bead embroidery technique on how to make a sequin flower. How to embroider a simple beaded sequin flower. Just about any beads will work.  I will just provide a list of the simple ones I used. 4mm round bead 11/0 seed beads sequins Using the 4mm round bead as center of flower, sew the bead where you want the center of the flower to be. I am just using a round piece of felt for the foundation material, to illustrate. You can ignore the green background.  It is just my beading mat. Bring the needle up a bit away from the center bead.  It should be approximately where you want the outer edges of the sequin-petals to be. Pick up one sequin.  If using cup-sequins, pick up from the underside (peaked side) of the sequin. Then 1 seed bead.  This will separate each sequin-petal from the other and produce a 3-D raised effect. Then another sequin from the underside as before; followed by 2 seed beads.  These 2 seed beads will from the center radiating line
